Today is the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Thanks to Stephanie for the image at the top of this post of our own stained glass window.
Our statue of Mary is robed and ready for the celebration. In this post you will hear readings and music from our own congregation.

Liturgy of the word
Greeting of Peace
We are the body of Christ.
God’s Spirit is with us.
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.
Communion rite
Hymn after communion
Heavenly message, brought by an angel
Coming to life the hopes of the earth;
Bringing to Mary humble and lowly,
God’s invitation to give the Christ birth.
Mary, we hail you, full of God’s favour,
Blessed are you, and blessed your son;
He will be called the child of the highest,
Saviour of all, the holy one.
Mary replied to Gabriel’s message,
“I am the servant, maid of the Lord.
Let it be done just as you have spoken.
My soul rejoices in God’s saving word.”
In the beginning, when God had spoken,
Through God’s own Word all things came to be;
Now by that Word, embodied through Mary,
God’s glory blazes, that our eyes may see.
This is the first of our monthly blog posts on special feast days. We hope you enjoy the many wonderfully diverse images of Mary and the music composed in her honour.
Here are Jim and Peter T on their habitual post-service walk on a Sunday – consulting a map and looking for directions.
We are collecting feedback from the parish and from the broader audience of the blog site, to assist us in planning for the future in our new way of worshipping and being. If you wish to give us a response to the questions below, please use the from at the bottom of the page.
- Tell us about the things the parish is doing that are helpful to you in your worship and in your spiritual life.
- Tell us your ideas for anything that is currently happening that you think could be tweaked to make it work better.
- Keeping in mind the limitations of our parish in personnel and finances, and the limitations of COVID, do you have any suggestions about things we could do to further enrich the life of the parish?
